The 18th Annual Great Pottsville Cruise kicks off with Pace Car Unveiling

The Great Pottsville Cruise unveils this year’s official Cruise Pace Car, a 1993 - 40th Anniversary Edition red Corvette at Jerry’s Classic Cars & Collectibles Museum. This year’s car is sponsored by Alpine Building & Post Supply of Schuylkill Haven.

The 1993 Corvette, according to Cruise Chairman Jerry Enders is "a very sharp sports car that anyone would be happy to win." Chances for the car will be available in Pottsville at: AAA Schuylkill County, 12-Volt Dave’s Audio, Steve’s Pizzeria, Coney Island Yorkville, Coney Island N. Centre St., Centre Street Hardware, Charlie’s Pizza and Sub Shop, and Jerry’s Northeast Auto Sales. Other ticket outlets are: Bruce’s Auto Mall, Schuylkill Haven; Messina’s Pizza, Cressona Mall; and Naftzinger’s Auto Parts, Auburn. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit Pottsville Lions Charities and many other local organizations.

The cost of the tickets for the pace car drawing are two dollars each ( $2.00 ea. ) or five dollars for three tickets ( $5.00 per 3 ).

2011 marks the 18th year for the annual Cruise event, a result of the year-long efforts of the Pottsville Lions Club and volunteers that make up the Cruise Committee.

Returning this year is celebrity guest Dennis Gage, host of TV’s “My Classic Car” who will be on hand at Saturday and Sunday events, August 13th and 14th, for autographs and photos. Gage’s appearance is being sponsored by Auto Locator magazine. This will also be the third year for the official Yuengling Dash Plaque for the first 500 registered cruisers, a true collector item provided by Yuengling Brewery and Gift Shop. This year’s official Cruise collector pin is sponsored by AAA Schuylkill County, Towne Drugs, and Yorkville Drug Store. As in the past, Cruisers must display their Cruise Permit for all Saturday and Sunday events. The permits are being sponsored by Bruce’s Auto Mall.
